Dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of movement disorders, the Parkinson Research Alliance of India brings together a dynamic consortium of clinicians, researchers, and scientists from across the nation. With a shared passion for unraveling the intricacies of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, dystonia, tremors, ataxia, and chorea, our alliance serves as a nexus of expertise and collaboration. By harnessing the collective wisdom and resources of both public and private institutions, organizations, and clinics, we strive to accelerate progress in the field, from bench to bedside. Our History
This group was envisaged by movement disorders specialists across the country. A preclude to this was the initiation of the India neurodegenerative Network in 2009- 2012 as a part of EU-INDIA STI project ALZBIOINDIGO organized by Prof Rupam Borgohain and Prof Olivier Blin. This included specialists in both movement disorders and cognitive disorders from Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences Bangalore, Manipal
Hospital Bangalore and Hinduja hospital Mumbai.
The movement disorders research network was set up in 2012 by Prof Madhuri Behari, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Prof Kapil Sethi from Parkinson study group, USA as a part of a NIH-DBT funded project “India-US Collaborative Partnership in Parkinson’s disease . The idea was strengthened by inputs from Prof Kapil Sethi and the Parkinson study group.
The society was registered in May 2015 in Hyderabad under the Andhra Pradesh Societies Registration Act, 2001.
